“Arcadia shows the burgeoning talent of yet another emerging female choreographer, Ruth Brill… She is certainly on the rise.”

Graham Watts, Critics’ Circle

“Brill is establishing a career as a choreographer. Peter and the Wolf shows a sharp eye for movement and storytelling.”

Zoë Anderson, The Independent

“Brill's Peter and the Wolf is a gem of a dance – it's funny and packed full of character and yet still ensures a great deal of technical skill from its cast.”

Chrysalis: International Film Project

I am excited to announce that I will be working on an international dance film project called CHRSYALIS!

The Chrysalis Project is a film series by Hannah Schneider in collaboration with Oxford Alternative Orchestra and the Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University.

CHRYSALIS is a series of films, shot in six countries, melding the media of dance, classical music, and film to explore the creation of hope in a pandemic.

The project features the musicians of OAO in the UK, and six award-winning choreographers in different locations around the world: Korea, Burkina Faso, the United Kingdom, the US, Russia and New Zealand. Each choreographer explores unique interpretations of hope that have been illuminated, and even enhanced, by the darkness of the global pandemic we are all experiencing.

CHRYSALIS also features three new compositions from award-winning composers, commissioned for this project, as well as arrangements of two renowned classical pieces. I will be collaborating with composer Carol Jones and Four Eyes Productions.

The films will be edited together with footage of the orchestra to create a cohesive piece of visual art designed for the screen which offers an insight into how orchestral and dance performance can be adapted in a time of social distancing.

Set to release in Autumn 2021
